Buckingham Security Services Scholarship
Buckingham Inc. is thrilled to announce the recipients of the newly formed Buckingham Security Services Scholarship.
The Buckingham Security Services Scholarship is awarded in honour of the late Alice Patricia Buckingham. Mrs. Buckingham’s passion for education had a tremendous influence on those around her, including her son, Rod Buckingham, Buckingham Inc.’s founder and president. “My mother raised us to appreciate the opportunity to take advantage of all opportunities to learn,” said Buckingham. “Through formal education and our experiences with those around us. I’m thrilled to pay this gift forward and honour students who have demonstrated leadership with their peers.”
This year’s recipients of the scholarship are Amy Larsen and Daniel Vida, both from W.P. Sanding High School in Shellbrook, SK.
“I understand this scholarship is for anyone interested in going into the field of security, policing and protection,” said Vida in his submission. “I live and breathe doing the right thing…I guess you can say I am a protector at heart.”
“As a caregiver for little kids, safety is very important to me and is something that should be take seriously, no matter the situation,” Larsen stated in her submission. “I also believe that advanced security, policing and various forms of public safety are crucial in a healthy community.”
The scholarship consists of a one-time monetary gift and a celebratory weekend in Regina with the Buckingham team. It will be awarded annually to two Grade 11 W.P. Sandin Public High School students who have displayed leadership in protecting and demonstrating kindness and compassion for fellow students and school faculty. A preference will be given to students who are interested in advanced security, policing or other forms of public safety.
